Banned Chhatra League Locks 5 DU Buildings for Lockdown
The banned Chhatra League, along with Awami League affiliates, has announced a lockdown in Dhaka on November 13. To enforce this, they have locked the main gates of five DU installations with padlocks from November 8 to 12 (five days). The violent activities are ongoing.
On Monday night, November 11, the locks were placed on the Faculty of Fine Arts, Institute of Education and Research, Institute of Nutrition and Food Science, Karjon Hall gate, Science Building, and other academic buildings.
Chhatra League (banned) DU branch President Majharul Kabir Shoyon shared photos on Facebook, writing, "Lockdown on November 13 all day. Make it successful. Lockdown BSL: Faculty of Fine Arts, IR, Nutrition and Food Science Institute, Karjon Hall Gate, Science Building, Dhaka University."
Yuba League Central Committee Member HM Al Amin Ahmed shared the same photos on his timeline, posting, "Seeing this brings peace! Lockdown at Dhaka University, BSL. November 13 all day, make the lockdown successful."
Al Amin added, "Dhaka University, cradle of all independence struggles in this country. It must be freed from anti-independence evil forces and positioned for independence sovereignty. BSL lockdown—locks placed."
Assistant Proctor Dr. Muhammad Rafiqul Islam told The Daily Campus, "The lock incident is true. They were broken open this morning. We are working to enhance campus security and have instructed security officers. The proctor has been informed about the investigation." Efforts to reach Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed went unanswered.
