Chatra Dal Leader Tawfick Stranded En Route to Grandmother's Funeral Amid BNP Nomination Blockade
Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) Assistant General Secretary Ayobur Rahman Tawfick, a Chatra Dal branch joint convener, was stranded en route to Gazipur for his grandmother's funeral due to a road blockade by BNP nomination-denied activists.
Tawfick's grandmother Sajeda Begum (90) passed away Monday. In a Facebook post around 9:00pm, he wrote, "The return is urgent, but the road is blocked. I don't know if nomination will come from tire fires, but people are suffering. Dhaka-Chattogram highway closed at Bhatiary Sitakunda. No way back except by train."
Earlier, he shared, "My grandmother Sajeda Begum (90) has passed away. I lost my father a year after birth; all love came from her. She was deeply religious. I couldn't see her last moments. I regret it forever. Heading to Gazipur. Tomorrow morning, she'll be laid to rest at family graveyard in Barun village, Kapasia. Pray for her; may Allah forgive her faults and grant Jannatul Ferdous."
The blockade, sparked by BNP nomination disputes, disrupted travel. CUCSU expressed condolences for Tawfick's loss.
