BRAC, Daffodil, North South Lead in Private University Faculty

Bangladesh has 110 approved private universities, with 103 operational employing 17,479 faculty in 2023, up from prior years, according to the University Grants Commission's (UGC) 50th Annual Report 2023, released in March and recently in print.
Of these, 13,169 (75%) are full-time—a 1,156 increase from 2022—and 4,310 (25%) part-time, up 305. Full-time: 952 professors, 1,119 associate professors, 3,410 assistant professors, 7,478 lecturers, 210 others. Part-time: 1,007 professors, 599 associates, 698 assistants, 1,650 lecturers, 356 others.
The report flags non-compliance with the Private University Act 2010, limiting part-timers to one-third of full-timers, as many exceed this.
