Faculty members and students of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at World University of Bangladesh (WUB) participated in a national rally organised by the Bangladesh Tourism Board on September 27 to mark World Tourism Day 2026.

The rally began at 8:45am from Parjatan Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka. Around 50 WUB students joined the event under the guidance of faculty members Umme Honey Nidhi, Md Mahfuzur Rahman and Md Istiaq Mohammad Shuvo, all lecturers in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The theme of World Tourism Day 2026, declared by UN Tourism, is “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism.” The theme focuses on the growing role of digital innovation and artificial intelligence in shaping the future of the global tourism industry.

Before the rally, participating students were provided with official T-shirts and caps. They then joined the procession carrying banners highlighting the potential, sustainable growth and future prospects of Bangladesh’s tourism industry.

The WUB delegation also highlighted the importance of digital transformation and artificial intelligence in tourism, particularly in creating innovative, sustainable and future-oriented opportunities for the sector.

Throughout the event, the university’s faculty members and students maintained discipline and professionalism while representing WUB at the national-level programme.

The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management regularly encourages students to participate in national and industry-level events. According to the department, such activities help students connect academic learning with practical experience and gain exposure to the professional tourism and hospitality sector.
