WUB textile engineering project ranks seventh at Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026

Natural fibre-based PCB project among top 10 at Ministry of Science and Technology-organised fair

A research project developed by the Department of Textile Engineering at World University of Bangladesh (WUB) has secured seventh place at the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026, organised under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The project, titled “Natural Fiber Based PCB,” was selected among the top 10 projects at the fair following a multi-stage evaluation process. A total of 930 projects were submitted during the registration period, of which 50 were shortlisted for presentation at the fair. The WUB project was subsequently selected among the top 10 and placed seventh in the final assessment, according to the university.

The project team was led by Md Mostafizur Rahman, associate professor and head of WUB’s Department of Textile Engineering. Other team members were Mohammad Bellal Hoque, assistant professor, and Rajib Hasan, a student of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering.

The project explores the use of natural fibre-based substrates as a sustainable alternative for manufacturing printed circuit boards (PCBs). The initiative aims to contribute to environmentally responsible electronics while creating greater value from natural fibre materials.

The Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 was held at Nobotheatre in Dhaka from September 12 to 14. The recognition was handed over by Prof Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Finance and Planning Adviser to the Prime Minister, and Anwar Hossain, secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
