NSU Launches Bachelor of Social Science in Anthropology Starting Summer 2026
North South University (NSU) has introduced a new undergraduate programme: Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) in Anthropology. The programme will commence from the Summer 2026 semester under the Department of Political Science and Sociology (PSS) in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The four-year honours degree aims to equip students with a solid grounding in anthropological theory, ethnographic research methods, and interdisciplinary approaches that link culture with politics, economy, environment, and technology.
The launch coincides with NSU’s Social Science faculty securing the top position in Bangladesh in the Times Higher Education 2026 Rankings, underscoring the university’s growing strength in the field.
The curriculum blends global perspectives with local Bangladeshi realities and emphasizes contemporary themes such as:
- Development and globalization
- Environment and climate change
- Migration and displacement
- Digital and visual anthropology
Students will complete 128 credits over twelve semesters, including core courses, recommended electives, and a mandatory research monograph or internship to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.
Graduates are expected to pursue careers in research, academia, national and international development organizations, NGOs, public health, and the corporate sector.
Applications are now open for the inaugural batch.
- Deadline: 1 April 2026 (5:00 p.m.)
