Three private universities enter Bangladesh’s top 10 in Webometrics 2026 list
Webometrics’ January 2026 edition places BRAC University, North South University, and Daffodil International University among Bangladesh’s top 10 higher education institutions. In the national table, BRAC ranks 3rd (world 1,635), NSU 4th (world 1,727), and DIU 7th (world 1,888).
Rajshahi University retained the No. 1 spot domestically for the third straight time (world 1,282; Asia 393). BUET is 2nd nationally (world 1,401). The rest of the top 10: Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (5th, world 1,800), University of Dhaka (6th, world 1,882), Jahangirnagar University (8th, world 2,054), Bangladesh Agricultural University (9th, world 2,406), and University of Chittagong (10th, world 2,407).
Webometrics, a Madrid-based research group, ranks universities by teaching quality, research impact, technology innovation and diffusion, economic relevance, and social, cultural, and environmental roles. It analyzes institutional web content plus researchers and publications. The ranking has been published twice yearly (January and July) since 2004.
