‘ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional Contest 2025’ concludes in grand style at BUBT: BUET Silver Hawks crowned champions
Amidst a festive atmosphere and a grand prize-giving ceremony, the ‘ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional Contest 2025’, known globally as the 'Olympics of Programming' in the arena of computer programming, has been successfully concluded at the permanent campus of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT).
With this event, BUBT has earned the glory of organising this prestigious international event for the fourth time. A total of 939 talented programmers from 313 teams, selected from across the country, participated in this two-day event, marking the highest participation record in the history of the ICPC Dhaka Site.
The 5-hour long main round of the competition began on Saturday (December 20) at 11:00 am. After a fierce battle solving complex algorithmic problems, the team 'BUET_Silver_hawks' from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) earned the glory of becoming champions by solving 7 problems. Solving 7 problems but trailing due to penalty difference, the team 'DU_MaxSunkCostFlow' from the University of Dhaka became the runner-up. The team 'GodFathers Inc.' from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) secured the third position.

In the Girls' Category, the team 'DUWP' from International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) became the champion, and the host university's team 'BUBT_Curly_Braces' from BUBT achieved the honour of being the runner-up.
A grand prize-giving and closing ceremony was held in the afternoon. Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chairman of BUBT Trust, and Mr. Shish Haider Chowdhury, NDC, MCIPS, Secretary, Information and Communication Technology Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Government of Bangladesh, were present as special guests at this grand event.
In his speech, the Honourable Secretary Mr. Shish Haider Chowdhury, NDC, stated:
"The innovative power of the youth is the key driving force behind building a Smart Bangladesh. International-standard competitions like ICPC are the best platforms for developing that talent. The government will continue to provide all-out support for such technology-friendly events in the future and will stand by the young programmers."
The ceremony was presided over and led by the pride of the BUBT family, the Honourable Vice Chancellor and Chair of the Executive Committee, ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional Contest 2025, Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Shawkat Ali. In his address, he urged students to focus more deeply on coding and technology practice. He said:
"The skill of solving programming problems will make you eligible to tackle global challenges. BUBT is always with you on this journey. I believe that today's winners will lead Bangladesh's technology sector on the global stage in the future."
The event was also attended by Dr. Abul Lais M. S. Haque, Professor, Dept. of ECE, North South University, Associate Director, ICPC Asia Dhaka Site 2025, and Secretary, WC Super Region; Mr. Md. Zaforul Alam Khan, Director (Training and Development), Bangladesh Computer Council; Mr. Shahriar Manzoor, Former ICPC World Finals Judge (2003–2018); and Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad, Distinguished Professor and renowned educationist, Dept. of CSE, Brac University.
Representing the sponsor organisations, Mr. Mushraful Haque Onik, Director (Technology), Dynamic Solution Innovators Ltd. (DSi) was present. Therap (BD) Ltd. served as the Gold Sponsor.
To make the event successful, under the leadership of Mr. Md. Saifur Rahman, Chairman of CSE Dept., BUBT and RCD of the contest, faculty members, technical team, and volunteers have worked tirelessly for the last few days. Especially from kit distribution to venue decoration, the role of volunteers was praiseworthy at every step.
Based on the final results, the top-ranking teams will get the opportunity to hoist the flag of Bangladesh on the world stage at the upcoming ICPC World Finals.
