New Principals Appointed to Five Major Medical Colleges Including DMC
The government has appointed new principals to five leading medical colleges in the country, including Dhaka Medical College (DMC).
The appointments were announced in a gazette notification signed by Deputy Secretary Dur-re-Shahwaz of the Personnel-1 Branch under the Health Education and Family Welfare Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh on Monday (30 March). The notification also includes the appointment of a vice-principal in one medical college.
According to the gazette:
- Prof. Dr. Md. Mazharul Shahin, principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College, has been appointed as acting principal of Dhaka Medical College.
- Prof. Dr. Mohammad Monir-uz-Zaman, who was serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Directorate General of Health Services, has been appointed as acting principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College.
- Prof. Dr. Md. Aynul Islam Khan, who was also serving as OSD at the Directorate, has been appointed principal of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College.
- Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, head of the ENT Department at Noakhali Medical College, has been appointed principal of Noakhali Medical College.
- Associate Prof. Dr. Md. Musharraf Hossain of the Surgery Department at Mugda Medical College has been appointed principal of Mugda Medical College.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. Rehan Uddin Khan of the Anaesthesiology Department at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College has been appointed as vice-principal of the same institution.
The notification states that the order, issued in the public interest, will come into effect immediately.
