Gold prices in the domestic market have fallen sharply due to a global downturn, with the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announcing revised rates effective from Wednesday. The price per bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold has dropped by a record Tk 10,873 to Tk 1,93,809, the lowest in recent times.

According to the latest BAJUS adjustment, rates are:

  • 22-carat gold: Tk 1,93,809 per bhori
  • 21-carat gold: Tk 1,85,003 per bhori
  • 18-carat gold: Tk 1,58,572 per bhori
  • Traditional method gold: Tk 1,31,628 per bhori

Buyers must add 5% VAT and a minimum 6% BAJUS labor charge to the selling price, though labor fees may vary based on design and quality.

The previous adjustment on October 27 had reduced 22-carat gold by Tk 3,674 to Tk 2,04,682 per bhori (effective October 28), with 21-carat at Tk 1,94,999, 18-carat at Tk 1,67,145, and traditional at Tk 1,38,942.

Silver prices remain unchanged: 22-carat at Tk 4,246 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk 4,047, 18-carat at Tk 3,476, and traditional at Tk 2,601. This year, silver has been adjusted nine times, with six increases and three decreases, compared to three adjustments last year.
