Prof. Dr. Ekramul Haque appointed as 16th VC of BUET
The government has appointed Professor Dr. Ekramul Haque of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as the 16th Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
The appointment was announced through a notification issued by the Ministry of Education on Thursday (May 14). Dr. Ekramul Haque succeeds the incumbent Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Abu Borhan Mohammad Badruzzaman.
Alongside his academic responsibilities, Dr. Haque currently serves as a Director of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
Dr. Ekramul Haque completed his BSc in Engineering from the Department of Civil Engineering at BUET in 1989, securing second place in the merit list with honors marks. He began his teaching career as a lecturer at BUET the same year. He was subsequently promoted to Assistant Professor in 1992, Associate Professor in 1997, and Professor in 2005. He has been serving as a Grade-1 Professor since 2017.
