Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam appointed as new VC of MBSTU
Professor Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam of the Department of Marketing under the Faculty of Business Studies at Dhaka University has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU).
The appointment was confirmed in a notification issued by the Ministry of Education on Wednesday (May 14). According to the notice, the appointment was made by the President and Chancellor of the university in accordance with Section 10(1) of the Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University Act, 2001.
As per the notification, Dr. Islam will serve as Vice-Chancellor for a term of four years from the date of joining, or until he reaches the age of retirement, whichever occurs first. During his tenure, he will receive salary and allowances equivalent to his current position and will be entitled to other benefits as per the regulations.
The notification further specified that, as the Chief Executive Officer of the university, he must reside on the university campus full-time.
