Dr. Mohammad Iqbal appointed as new VC of DUET
Professor Dr. Mohammad Iqbal of the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET). He is currently serving as the Vice-Chancellor of North East University Bangladesh in Sylhet.
The appointment was announced in a recent notification issued by the Ministry of Education. According to the notice, the appointment was made by the Honorable President and Chancellor of the university in accordance with Section 10(1) of the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) Act, 2003.
As per the notification, Dr. Iqbal will serve as Vice-Chancellor for a term of four years from the date of joining, or until he reaches the age of retirement, whichever comes first. During his tenure, he will receive the salary and allowances equivalent to his original post and will be entitled to other benefits as per the regulations.
The notification further specified that, as the Chief Executive Officer of the university, he must reside on the university campus full-time.
