After a long wait, the government has issued the gazette for the ninth national pay scale, officially titled the Government Services (Pay and Allowances) Order, 2026.

The Finance Division under the Ministry of Finance published the gazette on Saturday (September 19), introducing the new basic salary structure for government employees.

The biggest change is in the starting basic salaries. Employees from the 1st to 11th grades will see their starting basic pay double, representing a 100 percent increase.

For grades 12 to 20, the increase will be higher, ranging from 115 percent to a maximum of 142 percent.
