Two Killed After Being Crushed by Truck While Refuelling at Petrol Pump in Rajbari

Two people were killed after being run over by a truck while standing at a petrol pump in Rajbari.

The incident occurred on Sunday night (16 March) at Saptabarna Filling Station in Goalanda More, Sadar Upazila, according to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harun-or-Rashid of Khankhanapur Investigation Centre.

The deceased are:

• Sobahan Patowary (45), truck driver, son of Idris Patowary of Brakpara village, Khankhanapur Union, Rajbari
• Swapan Mia, truck helper, son of Shoral Mia of Nonrai area, Dhamrai Upazila, Dhaka

OC Harun-or-Rashid said: After evening, a Mahendra and a truck were standing in line at Saptabarna Filling Station to refuel. Truck driver Sobahan Patowary and another truck’s helper Swapan Mia were standing outside. At that time, another truck coming from behind hit the Mahendra from the rear. The impact crushed the two standing men, leaving them seriously injured. Locals rescued them and took them to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

He added that police seized the truck from the scene upon receiving the information. The driver fled immediately after the accident. Efforts to arrest him are ongoing.
