158 UNOs transferred in major administrative reshuffle

The government has transferred 158 Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) across all eight divisions in one of the largest single-day movements of field-level administrators.
The notification was issued late Wednesday night by the Ministry of Public Administration and made public on Thursday morning (27 November).

Sources said the mass transfer is part of the ongoing restructuring of field administration ahead of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election to ensure neutrality and efficiency.
This follows:
- Wednesday evening: Posting of new UNOs in 166 upazilas
- Wednesday afternoon: Transfer of SPs in all 64 districts
- Mid-November: Transfer of at least 50 Deputy Commissioners
The sweeping changes at district and upazila levels underline the interim government’s drive to overhaul the administration before the polls.
