Miscreants set fire to a sugar-laden truck on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Shibchar upazila, Madaripur, this morning. Police vehicles were vandalized during the incident.

The event occurred around 8:30 AM on Thursday (November 13). Additional police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.

Highway police sources said Chhatra League activists (banned) attempted to block the road with a sudden rally in support of the lockdown. Felling tree trunks halted traffic. Miscreants then torched the truck. Highway police arrived and contained the chaos. Police vehicles were damaged in the melee.

Shibchar Highway Thana's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Jahurul Islam said, "The situation is now normal. Police patrols continue."

Madaripur Superintendent of Police Mohammad Naimul Hasan added, "Highway traffic is flowing normally. Patrols are intensified across areas, and suspicious individuals are being searched."

Meanwhile, banned Chhatra League activists protested by blocking the Dhaka-Barishal highway with burning tires. Around 12:30 AM Wednesday (November 12), the blockade happened at Bhanga Bridge in Mostafapur Union, Sadar upazila.

Madaripur Sadar Model Thana OC Md. Adil Hossain said, "Some youths suddenly came to the road, lit tires, and tried to create disorder. We rushed to the spot upon hearing. But they had fled. Patrols have been increased."
