Teacher Breaks Down in Tears as 7 College Faculty Members Are Transferred at Once

The campus of Cumilla Government Women's College erupted in protests on Saturday (July 25) following a ministry order transferring seven faculty members simultaneously, including the college vice-principal. Students staged sit-in programs and formed human chains demanding the immediate withdrawal of the transfer order.

During the demonstration, an emotional scene unfolded when Mohammad Mohsin, a teacher from the English Department included in the transfer list, addressed the protesting students. In a video that quickly circulated on social media, the educator was seen folding his hands in appeal, breaking down in tears.

"I am a person solely dependent on my government service. Please do not do anything that might cost me this job. Do not cause me harm—this is the sole livelihood for my entire family... Please don't jeopardize my job, I will die," Mohammad Mohsin was heard telling the gathered students.

Demonstrating students pointed out that the college was already grappling with a shortage of teaching staff. Transferring seven experienced faculty members at once without posting immediate replacements would severely disrupt academic activities. Former and current students also expressed dismay online, noting that losing popular and experienced educators like Professor Mohsin poses a major setback for local academics.

The transfer order follows an incident on July 13 when heavy rainfall led to severe waterlogging at the college during the HSC examinations, drawing widespread attention. Ten days after the incident, the Ministry of Education issued a notification reassigning the vice-principal and six other teachers to various districts across the country, sparking the ongoing campus protests.
