The 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will be completed within five weeks.

This preliminary decision was taken on Saturday (18 April) at a meeting of education board chairmen presided over by Education and Primary & Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon.

Sources present at the meeting said the routine is being finalised and is likely to be published on Thursday or Sunday.

Previously, the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee had planned to start the exams on 7 June. However, after the minister’s final approval, the start date has been set for 2 July.

This year, for the first time, all 9 general education boards along with a total of 11 boards will conduct the examinations using identical question papers. In previous years, madrasa and technical boards had uniform questions, but the general boards used separate sets.

The minister directed the board chairmen to make necessary preparations to ensure the exams are held smoothly. Steps will also be taken to keep coaching centres closed during the examination period and to prevent rumours on social media.

Students will be able to download the routine and further instructions from their respective education board websites.
