Iran Leader Says US Should Focus on ‘America First’ Policy – Not ‘Israel First’
Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has stated that the success of the ongoing high-stakes negotiations in Islamabad depends entirely on whether the United States prioritises its own interests.
In a post on X, Aref said a mutually beneficial agreement is possible if the US focuses on an “America First” policy. However, he warned against shifting to an “Israel First” agenda.
“If the US pivots to an ‘Israel First’ approach, it will lead to ‘no deal’,” Aref said, adding that in such a scenario, Iran would “inevitably continue our defence even more vigorously than before.”
He cautioned that this path would impose “greater costs” on the world.
The remarks come as US and Iranian delegations prepare for talks in Islamabad, mediated by Pakistan, following the recent two-week ceasefire.
