For the first time in the ongoing U.S.-Israel war against Iran, the United States is deploying a contingent of approximately 2,500 U.S. Marines to the conflict zone.

The Marines belong to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, departing from their base in Okinawa, Japan. They are travelling alongside the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli, which will serve as their primary platform for entering the theatre of operations.

The Marines are expected to be used for direct ground operations, crisis response, or securing control of specific Iranian territories if required. This marks the first deployment of U.S. ground troops in the war.

The move signals a gradual but significant escalation of U.S. military involvement, with no immediate indication of plans to conclude the conflict quickly.
