CU 'A' Unit admit cards downloadable from today
Admission cards for 'A' Unit of the first year undergraduate admission test for the 2025-26 academic session at Chittagong University can be downloaded from today (21 December). The admission test for this unit will be held on 2 January next year.
Recently, this information was announced in a notification signed by university Deputy Registrar and Admission Committee Secretary S. M. Akbar Hossain.
It has been said that admission cards for 'A' Unit can be downloaded from 21 December, 'D' Unit from 22 December, 'D1' sub-unit from 24 December, 'B1' sub-unit from 26 December, 'B2' sub-unit from 27 December, 'C' Unit from 28 December, 'B' Unit from 29 December. Students can download admission cards until one hour before the start of the examination.
Online application for admission to first year undergraduate (honours) class for the 2025-26 academic session at Chittagong University (CU) started from 1 December, which continued till 15 December. Compared to previous years, the number of seats for admission at CU has been reduced by about 20 percent. Besides, there will be no 'dependent quota' for children of teachers, officers and employees in the admission test.
Unit-wise seat numbers
'A' Unit includes four faculties. These are Science, Biological Sciences, Engineering and Marine Sciences and Fisheries faculties. Total seats in four faculties are 1,093.
Among them, 100 each in Chemistry and Physics departments making 200, 95 in Mathematics department, 80 in Statistics department, 35 each in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and Environmental Science departments making 70, 40 in Forestry department, 60 each in Zoology and Botany departments making 120, 65 in Computer Science department, 55 in Electronic and Electrical Engineering department, 40 each in Forestry, Geography and Environmental Studies, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Soil Science, Psychology, Pharmacy and Marine Science departments making total 280, 30 each in Oceanography and Fisheries departments making total 60 seats.
Eligibility for application
This year, the minimum GPA for application to all units of Chittagong University has been reduced by 0.5 compared to last year. To apply for 'A' Unit, students passing HSC in 2025 must have GPA 4 in SSC and 3 in HSC with total GPA 8.0. And for students passing HSC in 2024, GPA 4 in SSC and 3.50 in HSC with total 8.50 (including fourth subject).
Admission test
The unit test will be held on 2 January (Friday) next year in three divisional cities. These are Chittagong University, Dhaka University and Rajshahi University campuses. Students can participate in the admission test at any of the three universities as per preference.
Test method
Like last time, this year also the test will be held with multiple choice questions. In the 100-mark test, there will be 100 multiple choice questions, time one hour. Each question carries 1 mark. 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. That is, 1 mark will be deducted for four wrong answers. Minimum pass mark in the test is 40.
Mark distribution
To apply for 'A' Unit, 25 marks in English and answer any three subjects out of Physics, Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry. Each subject carries 25 marks making 75. Among them, 25 multiple choice questions each in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, only 20 multiple choice questions in Mathematics, each carrying 1.25 marks making total 25. That is, second time is there. In this case, merit list will be prepared by deducting 3 marks from total obtained marks of second timers.
