Five universities stay out of GST cluster admission again
The application process for the 2025-26 undergraduate admission test under the GST (General, Science & Technology) cluster of 19 public universities will begin on 10 December 2025 and continue until 24 December 2025, officials confirmed on Wednesday (3 December).
Despite repeated discussions involving the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Education Ministry and vice-chancellors, the five universities that withdrew from the cluster last year have decided to conduct their own separate admission tests again.
The five universities remaining outside the cluster are:
- Jagannath University
- Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University
- Shahjalal University of Science and Technology
- Comilla University
- Khulna University
Convener of the GST Admission Committee and Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University, Prof Dr Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah, told The Daily Campus: “These five universities have taken decisions in their academic councils and syndicates to hold individual admission tests. Teachers and students there also favoured separate exams. Even though the UGC and ministry wanted them back, they did not agree. So this year too, the GST test will be held with the same 19 universities as last year. No new university has joined.”
Most of the five universities have already finalised their own admission schedules. Jagannath University’s application deadline ends tomorrow (4 December).
