Dhaka University receives nearly 2.84 lakh applications for 2025-26 admission
Applications for Dhaka University’s 2025-26 undergraduate admission closed on Wednesday night (19 November), with a total of 2,84,216 applications submitted across five units for 6,125 seats. This means 46 students will compete for each seat, a slight drop from last year’s 3.29 lakh applications.
Unit-wise breakdown:
- Science Unit: 1,19,000+ applications → 1,851 seats → 63.63 applicants per seat
- Arts, Law & Social Sciences Unit: 1,09,902 applications → 2,934 seats → 37.40 applicants per seat
- Business Studies Unit: 35,279 applications → 1,050 seats → 33.59 applicants per seat
- Fine Arts Unit: 8,258 applications → 130 seats → 63.52 applicants per seat
- IBA Unit: 11,147 applications → 120 seats → 92.89 applicants per seat (highest competition)
Prof Sharifful Islam, member of the DU Online Admission Committee, told The Daily Campus that a small number of payments are still pending due to technical issues, so the final figure may increase slightly.
Compared to the 2024-25 session, applications have decreased by around 45,000, but competition remains intense, especially in the IBA, Science, and Fine Arts units.
