Jahangirnagar University publishes 2025-26 admission circular

Jahangirnagar University (JU) has published the admission notice for first-year honours programmes under the 2025-26 academic session. Applications will open on 23 November at 10:00 am and continue until 7 December midnight.

The notice was issued late Wednesday night (18 November) by Deputy Registrar Md Ali Reza, member-secretary of the Central Admission Management Committee.

This year, admission tests will be held under seven units: A, B, C, C1, D, E and E, plus the Institute of Business Administration (IBA-JU).

Application fees (including 1.2% service charge):

  • A, B, C, D units: Tk 800 each
  • E unit: Tk 700
  • C1 and IBA-JU units: Tk 600 each

Payment must be made online via debit/credit card or mobile banking.

Units and faculties/institutes

  • A Unit: Mathematical & Physical Sciences Faculty + Institute of Information Technology (IIT)
  • B Unit: Social Sciences Faculty
  • C Unit: Arts & Humanities Faculty + Law Faculty + Institute of Comparative Literature & Culture
  • C1 Unit: Drama & Dramatics and Fine Arts departments (Arts & Humanities Faculty)
  • D Unit: Biological Sciences Faculty
  • E Unit: Business Studies Faculty
  • IBA-JU: Institute of Business Administration

Probable admission test dates Tests will be held between 9 and 19 February 2026 (excluding Fridays and Saturdays). Final schedule will be announced later on the website and in newspapers.

Application period 23 November (10:00 am) – 7 December 2026 (midnight)

Minimum eligibility criteria

  • Students who passed SSC/equivalent in 2022 or later and HSC/equivalent in 2024 or 2025 are eligible.
  • GPA calculated including fourth subject.

Unit-wise GPA requirements

  • A Unit & IIT: Minimum total GPA 8.50 (minimum 4.00 in each exam)
  • B, C, E, Law, Comparative Literature units: Science background – total GPA 8.50; Humanities/Business/Others – total GPA 7.50 (minimum 3.50 in each exam)
  • C1 Unit: Total GPA 7.50 (minimum 3.50 in each)
  • D Unit: Total GPA 9.00 (minimum 4.00 in each)
  • IBA-JU: Science – total GPA 8.00 (minimum 3.75 each); Others – total GPA 7.50 (minimum 3.50 each)

For GCE O/A Level candidates

  • Minimum five subjects in O-Level (2020 or later) and two in A-Level (2024/2025).
  • At least B grade in four subjects and C in three out of seven subjects combined.

Exam pattern

  • 80-mark MCQ (55 minutes) + 5 minutes for OMR filling.
  • 0.20 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Pass mark: 36 (45%)
  • Results will be published within seven days on ju-admission.org and unit office notice boards (not in newspapers).

Subject-wise marks distribution

  • A Unit: Bangla 3, English 3, Maths 22, Physics 22, Chemistry 22, ICT 8
  • B Unit: Bangla 20, English 20, General Maths 20, GK 15, Analytical 5
  • C Unit: Bangla 20, English 20, GK & subject-related 40
  • C1 Unit: Bangla 10, English 10, GK 20, subject-related 40
  • D Unit: Bangla 4, English 4, Intelligence 4, Chemistry 24, Biology 44 (Botany 22 + Zoology 22)
  • E Unit (Business background): Bangla 20, English 20, Accounting 20, Management 20 (Science/Humanities): Bangla 20, English 20, Maths & Analytical 20, Business GK 20
  • IBA-JU: Bangla 5, English 30, Maths & IQ 30, Current & Analytical 15 (entire paper in English except Bangla section)

Disabled applicants requiring special assistance must apply in writing to the respective unit coordinator. Scribe’s qualification: maximum SSC or equivalent.
