Dhaka Polytechnic Clash: 9-Member Committee Formed for Probe
A 9-member committee has been formed by the administration of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute to investigate the recent clash between Chhatra Dal and Shibir activists. The committee, constituted on Tuesday (3 March), has been given a deadline of 3 working days to submit its report.
Chief Instructor of Non-Tech Delwar Hossain Mia has been appointed as convener, while Food Technology Department Instructor Taslim Alam has been named member secretary. Latif Hall West Branch Supervisor Tarun Babul confirmed the information to The Daily Campus on Tuesday (3 March).
The clash occurred around 1:00 am on Tuesday (3 March) at Latif Hall dormitory. At least 5 students were seriously injured in the attack and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, according to reports.
Eyewitnesses said the incident began with verbal arguments between Chhatra Dal and Shibir activists over dominance on campus, which quickly escalated into a physical clash. Both sides engaged in chase-and-counter-chase and hand-to-hand fighting. Police were deployed to bring the situation under control.
Tarun Babul said: “Both sides are making allegations according to their own version. However, a committee has been formed to investigate the entire matter. The truth will emerge from the probe.” He added that a total of 5 students received treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. All have been released as they are now out of danger.
