Education Directorate Urges Swift Submission of July Uprising Casualty Data

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has directed all educational institutions across Bangladesh to submit detailed information on students killed or injured during the July 2024 mass uprising. The directive, issued on Tuesday, 19 August, mandates government and private madrasas to provide the data via email within two working days.
Signed by DSHE Assistant Director Md. Khalid Hossain, the office order emphasizes the urgency of collecting data on the “July Warriors” who were martyred or injured during the uprising. It calls for a comprehensive list from all educational institutions, including universities, schools, colleges, technical institutes, and madrasas, detailing the names and mobile numbers of institution heads alongside casualty information.
The directive instructs institutions to send a soft copy in Nikosh Bangla font (size 14) to apa@moedu.gov.bd, with a carbon copy to adadmin@dshe.gov.bd, and a hard copy to the office of the undersigned. The submissions are to be addressed to Badrul Hasan Liton, Joint Secretary (Performance, Innovation, and Service Development Branch), Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education, Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka.
This initiative follows a 7 August 2025 letter from the Ministry of Education, underscoring the government’s commitment to documenting the contributions of students in the July uprising, which led to the fall of the Awami League government. The DSHE has urged all regional directors and deputy directors (School and Inspection Branch) to ensure compliance, highlighting the need to honor the sacrifices made during the historic movement.
