Six Unnamed July Martyrs Handed Over to Anjuman Mufidul Islam

Six unidentified bodies of individuals killed during the July-August 2024 uprising were handed over to Anjuman Mufidul Islam for burial on Thursday, August 7, 2025. The transfer took place around noon from the morgue of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital to the welfare organization’s authorities.
On Wednesday, August 6, Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Khalid Monsur informed the media that the six unidentified bodies, preserved in the DMC morgue for a year, would be handed over to Anjuman Mufidul Islam for burial. “Post-mortems have been completed, and the bodies have remained unclaimed. Despite efforts, their identities remain unknown. We received a letter, and the bodies will be transferred for burial around 11:00 AM tomorrow,” Monsur stated.
Sources confirm three bodies are from Jatrabari, two from Shahbagh, and one from Paltan police jurisdictions. Despite prolonged efforts, no one has claimed them. DNA samples have been preserved to aid future identification. The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’s special cell first reported these bodies on January 10, 2025, noting their connection to the uprising.
