Bus communication between Rajshahi and the rest of the country has ground to a complete halt due to internal conflicts surrounding the newly announced committee of the Rajshahi District Motor Workers Union. A faction of aggrieved workers suspended all bus operations from Monday (May 18) morning, leaving hundreds of regular commuters stranded and facing severe difficulties.

The suspension has triggered widespread frustration among passengers at various terminals. Nazrul Islam Helal, General Secretary of the Rajshahi Road Transport Group, justified the move by stating, "We do not wish to operate buses under the jurisdiction of this newly formed committee. Consequently, transport services have been suspended since early morning."

On the other hand, Mominul Islam, the General Secretary of the newly announced union committee, defended the formation, claiming that the central federation finalized the committee layout in direct coordination with local ministers and members of parliament.

He argued that a minor group of workers who failed to secure positions within the new leadership structure are artificially orchestrating the strike. He added that efforts are currently underway to resolve the internal standoff as quickly as possible.

The sudden transport halt has disrupted personal and professional schedules for many travelers. Amirul Islam, a Dhaka-bound passenger, shared his ordeal at the terminal: "I had purchased a ticket for an 11:00 AM Desh Travels bus to Dhaka two days ago.

Upon arrival, the counter staff simply refunded my money. This has put me in a terrible fix, and I am now desperately looking for an alternative route because reaching Dhaka today is absolutely mandatory for me."
