PM Tarique Rahman to Confer Ekushey Padak-2026 on February 26

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will distribute the Ekushey Padak-2026 — the country's second highest civilian award — at a ceremony in the capital on Thursday, 26 February. The event is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am at Osmani Memorial Auditorium.
A press release from the Cultural Affairs Ministry confirmed that the Prime Minister will personally hand over the awards to the recipients in recognition of their outstanding contributions in various fields.
This year, nine eminent citizens and one music band have been selected:
- Farida Akhtar Babita – Film
- Professor Md Abdus Sattar – Fine Arts
- Marina Tabassum – Architecture
- Ayub Bachchu – Music
- Arthy Ahmed – Dance
- Islam Uddin Palakar – Palagan
- Shafik Rehman – Journalism
- Professor Dr Mahbubul Alam Majumdar – Education
- Tejosh Haldar Josh – Sculpture
- Warfaze – Music Band
The Ekushey Padak is awarded annually in memory of the Language Movement martyrs of 21 February 1952 and is one of the most prestigious national honours in Bangladesh.
