Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL) will keep metro rail on its regular weekday schedule on 12 February, the day of the 13th National Parliament election, and will add extra trains to ease passenger flow, Managing Director Faruk Ahmed confirmed on Thursday (5 February).

He said service will also remain normal on other election holidays. However, for security reasons, station gates located directly beside polling centres will stay closed on election day; other gates will remain open.

To ensure uninterrupted operations, DMTCL has cancelled all leave for staff involved in train operations, line operations, maintenance, essential security and related facilities. An order signed by DMTCL Director (Administration) A K M Khairul Alam states that, effective 8 February until further notice, all types of leave are cancelled except in special or emergency cases, and unit heads are instructed to take necessary steps.
