Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has said, “The government is facing a major crisis in funding social sectors. Everyone talks about increasing allocations for education and health, but where is the money? Many say teachers don’t teach properly. But how much salary do they get? How long can they teach on empty stomachs?”

He made these remarks as the chief guest at a seminar jointly organised by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) and the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Monday (September 22).

The seminar, held at the DSE building, featured speeches by the chief adviser’s special assistant Anisuzzaman, Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansur, and Financial Institutions Division Secretary Nazma Mobarek. BSEC Chairman Khandakar Rashed Maksud presided over the event.
