Will institution heads face action for submitting incorrect transfer information?

A large number of heads of private schools and colleges have reportedly submitted incorrect information in applications for the transfer of MPO-listed teachers, causing difficulties for teachers seeking transfers.

Officials of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) said around 95 percent of the problems identified in the transfer applications were caused by errors made by institution heads.

In some cases, vacant posts were shown even when no vacancy existed, while in other cases, available vacancies were not reported, according to DSHE officials.

They said institution heads had repeatedly been instructed to provide accurate information but failed to do so. Given the consequences for teachers, officials believe action should be considered against those responsible for deliberately submitting incorrect information.

Asked whether action would be taken against institution heads, DSHE Director General Professor Dr Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel told The Daily Campus that deliberate submission of incorrect information should result in action.

“If someone deliberately provides incorrect information, action should certainly be taken against them. However, the Education Ministry will have to issue instructions on this matter. Necessary action will be taken after receiving instructions from the ministry,” he said.

Teachers to get another chance to apply

Earlier, on August 27, the DSHE extended the deadline for MPO-listed teachers working at private schools and colleges to apply for transfers and announced a fresh opportunity to correct personal information.

According to the notice, teachers will be able to submit transfer applications again on September 12 and 13. Those who have already submitted applications do not need to apply again.

The notice, signed by DSHE Director Professor Md Sakhawat Hossain Khan, said the transfer process was being conducted through software developed with technical support from Teletalk Bangladesh Limited under the MPO-listed Teachers’ Transfer Policy 2026 (amended).

Under the policy, teachers seeking transfers were initially allowed to apply online from August 21 to 27 using the user ID and password sent to their mobile phones.

The latest notice allows teachers to correct errors in personal information, including their home district, spouse’s district and workplace details, and mobile phone numbers.

For schools, institution heads were allowed to enter, verify and give final approval to information from September 6 to 7. Upazila or thana secondary education officers and district education officials were scheduled to complete their information entry, verification and final approval from September 8 to 10.

For colleges, institution heads were given September 6 and 7 to enter, verify and approve information. Regional deputy directors of colleges and regional directors were scheduled to complete the next stage from September 8 to 10.

Teachers will then be able to submit fresh transfer applications on September 12 and 13.
