SSC Re-Scrutiny Applications Cross 300,000

More than 300,000 students have applied to have their SSC and equivalent examination results re-scrutinised this year, with applications open until Monday (August 17).

Applications opened on August 11, the day after the results were published. By Saturday (August 15), more than 300,000 students had applied, according to an official of the Dhaka Education Board. The official told The Daily Campus that the number is continuing to rise.

“More than 300,000 students have applied to have their answer scripts re-scrutinised since the results were published. The number is increasing with time. If this many scripts have to be re-scrutinised, it will be a huge undertaking,” the official said.

He said new examiners would need to be appointed for the process. The scripts will have to be collected, marked, checked, totalled and entered into the system again, he added.

This year’s SSC and equivalent results recorded an average pass rate of 62.25%, described in the report as the worst result in nearly two decades. Nearly 700,000 students failed despite appearing in the examinations.

The re-scrutiny process has also changed this year. Under an amendment to the law by the current government, students have the opportunity not only to have their results reviewed but also to have their answer scripts re-evaluated. Previously, under the 1998 law, there was no provision for inspecting answer scripts. The application window for this year’s re-scrutiny and re-evaluation will close on Monday.

How to Apply

Students seeking re-scrutiny of their SSC and equivalent results must visit the designated re-scrutiny portal and enter their roll and registration numbers. They then need to select their education board from the dropdown menu and submit a mobile phone number, which will be used to send the result by SMS when it is published.

The next screen will show the student’s subject-wise results. Students can select one or more subjects and click the option to pay the fee. The fee is Tk 150 per paper. For subjects with two papers, applications must be submitted for both. Fees can be paid through bKash, Nagad and Sonali services.

After payment, students must return to the application portal and submit the application. Additional subjects can be added later through the same process without entering the mobile number again.

Before paying the fee, students can modify their applications by removing subjects for which payment has not yet been made and selecting new ones. Once the fee has been paid, however, the selected subjects cannot be cancelled and the fee is non-refundable. Manual applications will not be accepted.

Answer Scripts to Be Re-Evaluated

At the publication ceremony for the 2026 SSC and equivalent results on August 10, Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan said answer scripts would be re-evaluated if a student had been given incorrect marks or had not received the marks they deserved. He said a review committee would be formed to ensure that every student receives the marks they are entitled to.

Under the previous review system, officials mainly checked the tabulation sheet. There was no opportunity to examine the answer script again to determine whether the teacher had awarded the appropriate marks. This year, the minister said, the law provides an opportunity to re-evaluate every student’s answer script.
