Primary Teacher Candidates Gather at Dhaka University Demanding Immediate Joining

Candidates recommended for government primary school assistant teacher positions under the 2025 recruitment drive have gathered at Dhaka University to launch a continuous sit-in demonstration in the capital, demanding immediate joining and school postings under the Recruitment Rules-2025.

On Sunday (August 2), job seekers from various districts across Bangladesh assembled in front of the Dhaka University Central Library before proceeding to stage a demonstration in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh. Demonstrators carried banners advocating for the immediate execution of their appointment process and official postings.

The protest coincides with updates from the government regarding the recruitment timeline. Following an urgent virtual meeting, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education announced that joining procedures for the 14,384 recommended candidates are expected to start by October 30, 2026.

According to a press release issued by Public Relations Officer Md. Asif Ahmed, Secretary Md. Sakhawat Hossain noted that police verification and administrative delays had postponed the process. The ministry clarified that candidates joining around October 29 will receive their school postings and subsequently undergo mandatory professional training.

Despite the official timeline provided by the ministry, the protesting candidates announced their intention to continue their sit-in program in Shahbagh until formal joining orders are executed under the designated recruitment rules.
