Dhaka Board Issues Emergency Directives for Class 9 Registration

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, has issued emergency guidelines for student registration in Class 9 for the 2026–2027 academic session. The online registration process will commence on August 2 and continue until August 30, 2026.

The directives were confirmed in an urgent notice issued on Monday (July 27) from the board’s examination control department, signed by Professor Dr. Md. Masud Rana Khan by order of the Dhaka Board Chairman.

Fee Structure and Age Criteria

According to the official notice, the standard registration fee per student has been set at BDT 196. Candidates registering after the deadline will be required to pay an additional late fee of BDT 140, bringing the total late registration fee to BDT 336 per student.

The board specified key eligibility conditions for registration:

• Academic Eligibility: Only students who have passed the Class 8 annual examinations and hold valid registration are eligible for admission into Class 9.

• Age Limits: Applicants must be between 12 and 18 years of age. Students under 12 or over 18 years will be deemed ineligible for registration.

To ensure zero errors in student data entry, education authorities have ordered every school to form a dedicated three-member committee comprising the respective class teacher and administrative staff.

The committee will be responsible for cross-checking all student data against original school admission forms before submitting the Electronic Student Information Form (eSIF) online. Headmasters and committee members will be held jointly accountable for any mistakes or discrepancies. The board strictly prohibited institutions from engaging students in registration tasks.

Group Selection and Payment Procedure

Stream selection (Humanities, Science, or Business Studies) must be finalized through mutual consent between parents and students, or based on the candidate's performance in the Class 8 annual examinations.

The board clarified that school staff do not need to visit board offices in person to deposit fees. Registration fees can be paid digitally via Sonali Seba, allowing institutions to fill out the online 'eSIF' within 24 hours of payment completion. Institutional heads will bear full responsibility for any administrative failures or complications arising from missed deadlines.
