In a significant move to bolster the education sector, the final results for the recruitment of 14,385 assistant teachers in government primary schools are expected to be published before the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.

The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) is moving at a rapid pace to complete the process, with viva voce examinations scheduled to take place across the country from January 28 to February 3, 2026.

The Road to Final Selection

Following the written examinations held on January 9, the DPE released the results on January 21, selecting 69,265 candidates for the oral assessment.

  • Total Applicants: 1,080,095

  • Participants in Written Test: 830,088

  • Selected for Viva: 69,265

  • Final Vacancies: 14,385

Allegations of Irregularity Dismissed

The recruitment process faced a brief period of uncertainty after a group of aspirants alleged question paper leaks and submitted a memorandum to the Director General of the DPE on January 11. However, a thorough investigation by intelligence agencies found no evidence to support these claims. Following the clearance, the authorities decided to proceed with the results and subsequent viva schedule.

Pre-Election Appointment Goal

Sources within the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education indicate that the interim government is determined to finalize this massive recruitment drive as a priority task. With the national election and referendum slated for February 12, the DPE aims to release the final merit list between February 5 and February 10. This would allow the selected candidates to receive their preliminary appointment letters before the administrative transition begins.

Instructions for Candidates

Selected candidates must appear for the viva voce in their respective districts. To participate, they must submit attested copies of all educational certificates, NIDs, and other required documents to the District Primary Education Office by January 27 to receive their interview cards.
