New Students Gain Voting Rights in RUCSU Election, Nomination Period Extended
The Election Commission of Rajshahi University has decided to include students from the 2024-25 academic year in the voter list for the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU) election. Additionally, the commission has extended the nomination paper distribution period by one more day.
Professor F. Nazrul Islam, the Chief Election Commissioner, confirmed this development on Tuesday, September 2, at 4:00 PM.
Following the release of the final voter list, the student wing of Bangladesh Chhatra League repeatedly held programs demanding the inclusion of first-year students in the voter list. On August 31, the student wing of Chhatra Shibir also expressed support for this demand.
In addition, the deadline for distributing nomination papers for the RUCSU election has been extended by one day. The distribution, which began at 10:00 AM, will continue until 5:00 PM.
The nomination paper distribution for the hall union and Senate student representative elections also concluded today. According to the announced schedule, the RUCSU election is set to take place on September 25, 2025.
