Chatra Dal in lead in another centre

Vote counting for the long-awaited Jagannath University Central Students' Union (JnUCSU) election is underway. Results from 9 out of 39 centres have now been officially announced. In the latest update from the Faculty of Fine Arts centre, Chhatra Dal candidates are leading by a significant margin.

Across these 9 centres, Chhatra Dal-backed candidates are leading in the top two positions in the latest declared centre. However, overall in the 9 centres counted so far:

  • VP (Vice-President) position: Chhatra Dal-supported candidate AKM Rakib is leading with 864 votes. His closest rival, Islami Chhatra Shibir-supported candidate Riazul Islam, has received 831 votes.
  • GS (General Secretary) position: Shibir-supported Abdul Alim Arif is strongly ahead with 758 votes, while Chhatra Dal candidate Khadijatul Kobora has 426 votes.
  • AGS (Assistant General Secretary) position: Shibir-backed Masud Rana leads with 688 votes, while Chhatra Dal candidate Atikur Rahman Tanzil has 732 votes.

The Fine Arts Faculty centre results were announced this morning, Wednesday (7 January), by Election Commission representative Dr Anisur Rahman. Earlier, results from the following centres were declared:

  • Microbiology
  • Finance
  • CSE (Computer Science & Engineering)
  • Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology
  • Geography & Environment
  • Public Administration
  • Anthropology
  • Pharmacy

Current Overall Standings (After 9 Centres)

  • VP: Chhatra Dal candidate AKM Rakib – 864 votes (leading) Shibir candidate Riazul Islam – 831 votes
  • GS: Shibir candidate Abdul Alim Arif – 758 votes (strong lead) Chhatra Dal candidate Khadijatul Kobora – 426 votes
  • AGS: Shibir candidate Masud Rana – 688 votes (leading) Chhatra Dal candidate Atikur Rahman Tanzil – 732 votes

Counting continues across the remaining centres, with results expected to be announced progressively throughout the day.
