Tarique Rahman’s convoy reaches JU, security personnel push away VC in incident
Security personnel pushed Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan aside while clearing the way for BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s convoy as it passed the university on its way to the National Memorial in Savar.
The incident occurred on Friday (26 December) evening in front of the university’s main gate (Dairy Gate) on the Dhaka-Aricha Road (Aricha-bound lane). The event has sparked significant discussion and criticism on social media.
A viral video on Facebook shows some BNP-aligned teachers standing on the roadside and waving at Tarique Rahman as his bus approached. Tarique Rahman responded by waving back from inside the vehicle.
Moments later, security personnel assigned to the convoy began pushing the group aside to clear the path. During this process, JU VC Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, who was standing close to the bus, was pushed and seen stumbling.
