Ministry calls stakeholders’ meeting today on proposed Dhaka Central University ordinance
The Education Ministry has convened a stakeholders’ consultation meeting today Monday (17 November) to gather opinions on the draft ordinance of the proposed ‘Dhaka Central University’. A total of 26 persons, including ministry officials, vice-chancellors of several universities, former students of the seven colleges, and journalists, have been invited to the meeting.
According to a letter signed by Senior Assistant Secretary of the Public General University Branch under Secondary and Higher Education Division Naima Akhtar, the meeting will be held to collect stakeholders’ views on the draft ordinance of the proposed ‘Dhaka Central University’.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am in the conference room of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the chairmanship of the Adviser to the Ministry.
The invitees are: Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice-Chancellor, Dhaka University; Prof Dr ASM Amanullah, Vice-Chancellor, National University; Prof Dr Saleh Hassan Naqib, Vice-Chancellor, Rajshahi University; Prof Dr Yahia Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor, Chittagong University; Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, Vice-Chancellor, Jahangirnagar University; Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim, Vice-Chancellor, Jagannath University; Prof Dr AM Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.
Others include Additional Secretary (Planning), Secondary and Higher Education Division; Additional Secretary (University); Joint Secretary (University Sub-branch-2); Dr Manzoor Ahmed, Emeritus Professor, BRAC University and former Director, Institute of Educational Development; Prof Hosne Ara Begum, Director, Institute of Education and Research, Dhaka University; Dr Mohammad Fazlur Rahman Khan, Chief (DLP Division), BANBEIS.
Journalists and experts invited are Mahfuzur Rahman Manik, Senior Sub-Editor, Daily Samakal; Sharifful Haque, Journalist, The Daily Star; Md Murtuza Suman, Associate Professor, Faculty of Business Administration, Khulna University; Dr Md Shahidullah, Associate Professor, Faculty of Education and Research, Bangladesh University of Professionals; Sheikh Adnan Fahad, Associate Professor, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Jahangirnagar University; Dr Kajal Rashid Shaheen, writer, journalist and researcher; Sabidin Ibrahim, Head of Editorial Section, Daily Bonik Barta.
Also invited are senior journalist and columnist Hasan Mamun; political analyst and columnist Shahidullah Farazi; senior journalist, political analyst and columnist Shubha Kibria; and seven-college alumni Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu and Helen Jerin Khan.
