Five JUCSU student representatives become Senate members
The third executive council meeting of Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) has recommended five elected student representatives as members of the university Senate.
The meeting was held on Sunday (16 November) from around 6:00 pm to midnight at the Council Room of the New Administrative Building. It was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan and attended by elected JUCSU representatives.
The recommended representatives are: JUCSU VP Abdur Rashid Jitu, GS Md Mazharul Islam, AGS (Male) Ferdaus Al Hasan, AGS (Female) Ayesha Siddika Meghla and Environment and Nature Conservation Secretary Shafayet Mir.
JUCSU General Secretary Md Mazharul Islam said five members were selected as Senate representatives based on the majority opinion of the elected representatives. “This is an important part of student representation in JUCSU. We hope everyone will work to fulfil the aspirations of students,” he added.
JUCSU Vice-President Abdur Rashid Jitu said five student representatives from JUCSU were supposed to go to the Senate. Since the decision could not be finalised in the second executive meeting, five members were nominated today in the third meeting on the basis of majority opinion.
Besides, the third JUCSU executive meeting also discussed various agendas including trial of teachers, academic reforms, number tampering, different development projects of the university and JUCSU fund accounts.
