Chief Adviser Yunus Calls to Check on Nurul Haque Nur After Brutal Attack

Following a violent clash outside the Jatiya Party (JaPa) office in Dhaka’s Kakrail, involving counter-chases and brick-throwing, Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur and over 50 of his party’s activists were severely injured in an attack by police, army, and plainclothes personnel. Nur is currently under treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Amid this, Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, personally called to inquire about Nur’s condition.

On Saturday, August 30, 2025, Abu Hanif, a senior council member and media coordinator of Gono Odhikar Parishad, confirmed the development in a statement.

Abu Hanif said, “Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus called at 1:00 PM today to check on Nurul Haque Nur’s health. During the call, Nur detailed yesterday’s incident to the Chief Adviser, who assured that an investigation would be conducted, and action would be taken against those involved.”

Earlier, on Friday night, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul and Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam visited Nur at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
