Jamaat Expels MP Gazi Nazrul

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has officially expelled Gazi Md. Nazrul Islam, the Member of Parliament for the Satkhira-4 constituency, from the party following an internal organizational investigation into allegations of moral turpitude.

The expulsion decision was finalized during an emergency central executive council meeting held on Wednesday afternoon. Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami, Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, confirmed the development, stating that the central executive council approved the termination of his party membership with immediate effect.

Emergency Executive Council Meeting Details

According to an official press release issued by Jamaat-e-Islami, the emergency session convened at 4:00 PM on Wednesday at the Official Residence of the Leader of the Opposition on Minto Road in the capital.

The high-level meeting was chaired by the party's Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, and attended by senior members of the Central Executive Council.

Constitutional Action and Election Commission Notification

The press statement highlighted that an internal committee investigated reports published across various media outlets concerning MP Gazi Nazrul Islam. The findings conclusively established evidence of moral misconduct, prompting the party leadership to take strict disciplinary action.

Action was taken under Article 62 of the party's constitution to execute his immediate expulsion from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. Furthermore, the central leadership resolved to formally inform the Bangladesh Election Commission of his removal without delay.
