“Calling Ziaur Rahman the Proclaimer of Independence Violates the Constitution”: Asif Mahmud

National Citizens’ Party (NCP) spokesperson and former adviser to the interim government Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan has stated that the late BNP founder and President Ziaur Rahman was not the proclaimer of independence.
He remarked: “The statement that Ziaur Rahman is the proclaimer of independence is a clear violation of the Constitution.”
Asif Mahmud made the comment in a post on his personal Facebook account on Friday evening (27 March). The NCP media cell later shared the link to the post in their group.
Although the account is not official, when asked about it, a member of the NCP media cell, Arafat, said: “This is Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan’s personal Facebook ID.”
