13th Parliament First Session to Convene on 12 March: Speaker, Deputy Speaker Election Scheduled
The first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad is set to begin on 12 March. Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be elected during this session.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmad announced this while speaking to journalists at the Secretariat after a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on building a healthy Bangladesh. He said: “We discussed when the National Parliament session can be summoned. The gazette notification by the President must be issued at least 15 days before the session starts. The summary from the Parliament Secretariat will go through the Prime Minister’s Office to the President. The President will summon the session on the Prime Minister’s advice. It has been fixed for 12 March.”
The minister added that the upcoming session on 12 March will include several key agendas:
- Election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker
- Presentation of ordinances issued during the interim government
- Regular parliamentary proceedings
Responding to a question about terrorist activities in an office in Adabor, Dhaka, Salahuddin Ahmad said: “We have received such news. I have asked for an inquiry and directed that a report be submitted after investigation.”
