Prime Minister Tarique Rahman made history by offering special prayers (doa) seeking forgiveness for the martyrs at the Central Shaheed Minar premises after paying homage on International Mother Language Day. Traditionally, the head of state and head of government leave immediately after wreath-laying, but Rahman stayed to participate in the doa. Dhaka University Central Mosque Senior Imam and Khatib Hafez Mowlana Nazir Mahmud led the prayer.

The doa sought eternal peace and forgiveness for the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement, 1971 Liberation War, 1990 Anti-autocracy Movement, and 2024 July Uprising. It also included prayers for divine blessings on Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. The supplication further asked for the welfare of the nation and success for the present government under Tarique Rahman's leadership.

Earlier at 12:08 am, the Prime Minister placed a wreath at the Shaheed Minar to pay tribute to the Language Movement martyrs. After the doa, he offered additional wreaths on behalf of his cabinet, BNP, and the family members of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia.
