College-Madrasa Holidays Begin Today for 39 Days; School Holidays from March 8
Holidays for the holy month of Ramadan have started today (Wednesday) in all government and private colleges and madrasas across the country, with a continuous 39-day break. According to the holiday list, educational institutions will remain closed until March 28. Classes will resume from March 29.
The holiday calendar for colleges includes a 26-day continuous break from February 18 to March 25 for Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, and summer vacation. After Independence and National Day on March 26 (one day holiday), followed by Friday and Saturday weekly holidays, classes will begin again on Sunday, March 29.
For government primary schools, government and private secondary schools, vocational schools-colleges, diploma institutes, BMT colleges, and vocational colleges, holidays will start from March 8. Classes will resume from March 29. The Ministry of Education’s published 2026 holiday list for government and private colleges confirms this schedule.
Additional holidays include 10 days for Eid-ul-Azha (May 24 to June 5), 10 days for Durga Puja, Bijoya Dashami, Probarona Purnima, and Lakshmi Puja (October 18 to 29), and 11 days for winter vacation (December 17 to 31). Principals also have 3 reserved discretionary holidays per year for use as needed.
