7 Women Elected to Parliament

In the 13th National Parliament election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has achieved an absolute majority, paving the way to form the government for the fourth time after 20 years. Unofficial results from 297 constituencies show BNP's 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbol candidates winning the majority of seats.

Among the victors, six women candidates from BNP have been elected with large margins, while expelled BNP leader Barrister Rumin Farhana won as an independent in Brahmanbaria-2.

The elected women are: Afroza Khan Rita (Manikganj-3), Israt Sultana Elen Bhutto (Jhalokati-2), Tahsina Rushdir Luna (Sylhet-2), Shama Obaid (Faridpur-2), Nayab Yusuf Kamal (Faridpur-3), Farzana Sharmin Putul (Natore-1), and Barrister Rumin Farhana (Brahmanbaria-2).
