Ahead of the February 12 national polls, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has unveiled an exhaustive political and economic roadmap. During the "Policy Summit-2026" held on Tuesday (January 20), Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman presented a vision to transform the nation from a labor-dependent economy to a knowledge-based powerhouse.

Economic & Industrial Reforms

The party has promised significant relief for the industrial and agricultural sectors:

  • Utility Waiver: No increase in gas, electricity, or water charges for all industries for the next three years.

  • Factory Revival: Reopening closed factories through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), with 10% ownership specifically reserved for workers.

  • Agriculture: Interest-free loan facilities for farmers to ensure food security.

  • Taxation: A long-term goal to reduce Tax to 19% and VAT to 10%.

The "Youth & Education" Breakthrough

Jamaat's roadmap focuses heavily on Gen-Z and graduates:

  • Unemployment Support: 500,000 graduates will receive interest-free loans (Qard-e-Hasana) of up to Tk 10,000 monthly for two years while seeking jobs.

  • Student Welfare: 100,000 meritorious students to receive Tk 10,000 monthly education loans.

  • Elite Scholarship: 100 students will be sent annually to the world’s top universities (Harvard, Oxford, MIT, etc.) on government-funded interest-free loans.

  • Women’s University: Establishment of the world’s largest women’s university by merging Eden and Badrunnessa Colleges.

  • Youth Infrastructure: "Youth Tech Labs" in every Upazila and "District Job Youth Banks" in every district.

Health & Social Security

A radical shift in social welfare was proposed:

  • Budget Hike: Health sector allocation to reach 6–8% of GDP.

  • Universal Cards: Launching the Smart Social Security Card (merging NID, TIN, Health, and Social services).

  • Free Healthcare: Complete free service for citizens over 60 and children under 5.

  • First Thousand Days: A specialized program for pregnant women and infants (up to 2 years) to ensure nutrition and health safety.

  • Infrastructure: 64 specialized hospitals in 64 districts.

ICT & Vision 2040

To achieve "Economic Liberation," the party introduced Vision 2040:

  • ICT Jobs: Target of 2 million ICT jobs by 2030 and $5 billion in annual ICT exports.

  • New Ministry: Creation of a ministry for Skilled Manpower and Job Placement.

  • Freelancer Support: Training 1.5 million freelancers and setting up a National Payment Gateway for seamless digital exports.

Governance & Justice

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman reiterated a Zero Tolerance policy toward corruption, emphasizing that political sincerity is the key to reform. He also stressed the importance of Proportional Representation (PR) in the upcoming elections and called for a legal basis for the "July Charter" to honor the martyrs of the 2024 uprising.
